Read this article in Adbusters.

I'm dissapointed that Nike was able to break into our industry. Even as a real young kid I was against Nike because of the stupid kids that all thought it was the ultimate cool.

The irony may be how many 1970's pioneers were skating in Nikes. Look at the old photos...

I really have to wonder how other shoe companies treat their workers. I would imagine that the bigger ones are under greater scrutiny and probably perform better when it comes to wages, etc.

Also, the Nike SB line is helping many a skateshop keep the lights on. Considering I saw some DC t-shirts in Costco today, I don't think it's fair to single them (Nike) out.

I've skated in two pairs of Nikes since last year. The first were a SB suede classic style that got ate up pretty quickly, the other pair are SB Family (Team Manager series) and I love them.

I dig the old school vans, but there's no arch/heel support; tried DVS Daewons, no heel support and the back piece cuts into my ankles; tried a pair of IPATH Nate Jones, they don't have enough arch support; and I've tried ES Accelerates and I'm about to go through my second pair in six months (soles tore off the first pair, second pair are getting eaten up quickly).

So far the Family SBs have shown minimal wear, and there's plenty of support.

you get what you earn. sucks for them to live over there but that's life. that's good money for over there, you can't compare it to american wages.

Brooke's got an interesting interview on the cover of Silverfish right now, on this topic. I can't help but think much of this "issue" is the griping of the current street-skate royalty trying to protect their share, and the hangers-on trying to preserve their "core".
