older= longer?

Nope...
Quite the opposite for me, for transition riding.

@40 was swingin' 26" WB's on everything.
@41 was still swingin' 26" WB's and dabbled into the realm of Ed Econ length stuff.
@42 moved to 20" WB's. It was like a light came on. 'Thought to myself "hmmmmm... there just might be somethin' to NOT huckin' all that lumber around"
@45 I'm very comfy on ~15"ish WB's. Not a real trick type a fella much anymore. ...but I'm amazed just how tight a shorter WB will turn, the lines opened up by this and how much more longer runs can be without having to throw all that weight up and down the walls.
