Whats up fellas.
Got a dumb question.
We all have several hundred or several thousand dollars invested in our addiction. So Im wondering if anyone has their babies insured. You know in case of fire, flood, theft, etc (God forbid). I dont know how that would work, if it would be included in like your home insurance or if you get seperate insurance or what. I dont know, its just something Ive thought about and figured Id ask the experts.
Your thoughts appreciated

Good topic. I actually told my agent I have a skateboard collection and they pretty much laughed at me. But it should very well be part of homeowners or renters insurance. I wanted to make sure they knew I had some decks that were somewhat valuable, but I'm not 100% that I was taken seriously. Honestly how would they value them in a claim? My recommendation is to simply take pictures of all of them just to prove you had them incase of theft or fire etc. I'm not quite sure how we'd prove their value as they only mean something to fellow collectors. I'm sure that they deal with this in an kind of collection loss though. It's only worth something to people involved in it, but I'd think they'd have to compensate you for them. I hate to even think about losing any of my boards, but you're right, it could happen. |

If you're that worried about it I'd print outt auctions that involve decks that you own (Or bought on Ebay..) and keep them in a safe place to prove the going rate in case of a loss..
Outt..

yeah, any deals I make or auctions I win, I print out the e mails and end of auction pages. And take photos of the decks and put em onto disk. For records you know. But if and so something does happen you still have to get the insurance co to buy into their worth. |

If you've ever dealt with an insurance adjuster you know they'll try and low ball you at first. But if you have copies of different auctions showing what that deck went for, they'll have to take that into consideration on what it was/is worth..
I would get photos of them all, or easier yet video tape them all.. So they can see that you did have all those decks if the time comes.
The video tape thing is something I always do before I leave for vacation. As we are getting everyone into the van that morning I make a last run throughoutt the house getting every room on tape so that if someone breaks in or a fire hits while we're gone I know what the house looked like and what was there when we left..
If you have a big deck collection you might want to talk to your insurance person and ask about all this..
Outt..
Jeff.
