sunrisers are 1/8" riser pads that have a led light installed into the pad that would enable you to skate at night.i only managed to get 1 and pretty much no-one in my area has heard or seen one before.i have been trying to get a hold of:
SCOTT SEELYE
DESIGN BY SUMO
5068 SW TECHNOLOGY LOOP #117
CORVALLIS,OR 97333
you can check out his product at:
designbysumo.com
this is one of the most inovative ideas that i have seen for skatboarding yet,so if you know of his product(or him individually),please support him in making creations like his to continue to prosper.imagine what a 360 would look like at night with a couple of these at each end of a truck....amazing! |

yaakar:if they are similar to the design that scott had, then i would be intrested...maybe build a better mousetrap?i tried to call him at his site, but that number has been disconnected.tried sending him a letter, but it's goin' on 2 weeks without a response.i am fearing the worst...he may have gone kerrplunk with the whole idea...shame though,i was going to buy from him in bulk...guess i got a collectors item now...hehe
check out his idea at designbysumo.com
and let me know what you think.it's the perfect idea...not heavy at all...no straps or mess at all...just an led light infused into a 1/8" riser.if anyone has a similar idea in production...i would like to be your first customer.thanks |

Hey~
Yeah I'm working on LED that are slightly recessed in the risers. Just for fun with a bro mostly~ He's the LED wiz'zard he makes all kinds of weird shit with them~ blacklight, super bright white, blue~ etc.
I was thinking of a set of rails too~ Right now were waiting to hear baack from his buddy (a plastic guy) about making the mold for the risers~ I was thinking all kinds of stuff flashing~ oscelating~ Vibration activated~ Strobe speed screw~ etc. Running on slim round watch/hearing aid batteries.
My bro is talking about looking into using a super small circuit board~ but I'm thinkin DIY keep it simple~
It may be after the holidays until I have more time to get further on it~ however
I did a google search for "skateboard led risers" and some interesting stuff came up~ Seems like it's not that uncommon a product, but they're making them out of aluminum~
Stay Tuned~

hmmmmmmmmmm.........same "bat" channel, right?oscillating led lights sounds like a good idea as wellas having them in diffrent colors.how's about MULTIPLE oscillating led lights?i do not think you would be able to feel the vibration, especially since you are rolling on different terrain.here are a couple of ideas i would like to see updated, aside from what is out there now:
re-chargeable battery powered motor system that is small for a skateboard
small but powerful mountable mountable radio system for longer boards, maybe an art decco esque insired design? |

I remember seeing those in my old Thrashers (1989-92 or so). A company made them and had a small half page ad usually towards the back of the mag. I forget the name right off, but look through the old issues if you get a chance....look for a cartoonish picture of a skater character with a big flashlight looking thing shining off the bottom of the deck.
