I happened across a couple of auctions this week that blew my mind. Apparently there was a shitty department store quality skateboard company back in the day called Skate Joy. I had no idea that such a company ever existed, and there is no trace of them anywhere on the internet. My last name is Joy, so of course I snagged the two that the guy was auctioning, but if anyone happens to have any others or comes across any others, I'm definitely interested. Here are links to the two auctions, if you happen to give a shit.
"The Canadian" model (I sincerely doubt that that's what it originally said, but I think that it's pretty funny pretending that that's what it says.) I'm also perfectly willing to trade the other board here to anyone who likes Doonesbury (the cat looks a lot like Bill to me), or a cat person or anyone else for that matter. ****Edit--I don't have the boards yet, so any action on the cat deck won't be immediate from my end.

"Jinn" model:

Thanks...

Awesome. I'm glad you picked those up. I'm surprised got_wood didn't at least put in a bid or two. |

Yeah, I managed to snipe some ebay rookies, but no Mr. Wood. The shipping is more expensive than the price of the boards alone.

"the canadian" is actually "the guardian" I remember one of my little neighbor kids who came to skate my ramps in the 80's had that piece of shite. I could of sworn it was a Valterra-ble
Wicked DIO-esque graphics though brah. 4 horns to Beelzebub

Bobcat--I kind of remembered seeing the graphics of that deck too back in the day, and vaguely suspected that it actually said "Guardian" not "Canadian", but I've never, ever heard of the Skate Joy company. Maybe they were bootleggers of department store boards or something...

Well, he got my interest. I emailed him to do a side deal for the two Skate Joy decks, a used Harris freestyle in decent condition, and a totally thrashed Chatman Experience, he didn't get back to me about it (I even explained to him that my last name is Joy and that I was probably willing to pay more for them than anyone else would bid, simply to make sure that I'd get them), and by bidding on all of it I'm winding up paying less than I would have offered him for all of it, plus that Bill the Cat looking deck, a shitty plastic skateboard, and a new school Variflex.
Hopefully someone with unusual interests or tastes might want that silly cat deck, and I plan on sanding down the Variflex and painting something on it myself, and I'll figure out something else amusing to do with the plastic deck. Maybe I'll set it on fire and skate it on MurDock's funbox.

I was about to tell you that Bill the Cat is from Bloom County, not Doonesbury, but that last bit is too frickin' funny. I have to go lie down now. |

Ahh. Thanks for clearing that up. I don't read either of them.
