IGSA Announces 2006 DH World Cup Schedule

Los Angeles, November 19, 2005-- The International Gravity Sports Association (IGSA) has announced their 2006 World Cup Schedule. The World Cup Series will expand to seven events in 2006 with the inclusion of two new events in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and Scheid, Switzerland. . A west coast event in either August or September will be announced shortly. The series will conclude with a December race in South Africa.

The season starts in Rio de Janeiro January 13-15 with the RDH Rio Downhill. The season picks up again in July for a three-week marathon that will start with the racers competing July 3-7 in the Are Mountain Games held in Are, Sweden. The following week they will head to Jungholz, Austria for the Almabtrieb IGSA World Championships July 12-15. Finally they will head to Scheid, Switzerland July 17-22 for the COASH-Chill On A Swiss Hill mega event. After the European marathon, the riders will head to North America for a yet-to-be- announced event that will take place either in August or September on the West Coast. On October 13-15 the IGSA will move to Bainbridge, Ohio for the Demons of Downhill. The IGSA World Cup Series will conclude December 8-10 in Cape Town, South Africa with the season ending Hot Heels Africa.

This is the strongest line up of races in IGSA history. We will be racing on four separate continents in 2006, which is really exciting, said IGSA President Marcus Rietema.

In 2007, the IGSA will expand the World Cup Championship Series into the Pacific Rim with a race in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. 2007 will be the ten year anniversary of the first IGSA event. We are excited that gravity racing and IGSA events continue to grow worldwide, said Rietema.

IGSA events feature head to head downhill racing for Downhill Skateboarding, Street Luge, Inline Skating, Gravity Bike, and Inline Boards also known as Dirtsurfers. Competitors routinely reach speeds in excess of 65 mph as they hurtle themselves down mountain roads negotiating ninety degree bends and hairpin corners.

ABOUT THE IGSA
The International Gravity Sports Association (IGSA) was formed in 1996, recognizing the need for fair, unbiased leadership for the sport of gravity racing. Since its inception, the goals of the association have been to foster strong and fair competition, to provide reasonable rules, to administer the competition program with impartiality, and to reduce the hazards associated with the sport.
Much like motor racing and other competitive racing sports, the IGSA is a sanctioning body for events and manages and maintains a points system for active competitors worldwide. Based on experience gained at racing events throughout the world, the IGSA produces the Rules and Regulations of competition.
The purpose of the IGSA Rules and Regulations is to provide a common denominator of standards that will benefit all competitors involved in gravity racing sports and those events sanctioned by the IGSA.
The IGSA has focused on critical areas in order to develop and grow gravity racing sports:
building a fair and impartial competitive experience
providing mechanisms for inclusion and growth in all gravity racing categories
developing credible safety standards and an outstanding safety record
 encouraging engineering and racing innovation
 fostering entrepreneurship in event development
maintaining the integrity of gravity racing
