What do you guys think of the old P n P's for sale from China? It seems as if the web site is gone now..
Thanks,
Jeff. |

I'll bet they ran out of ink. Firework season is approaching in china and they need all of the ink they can get for the packaging. Least thats what ma said. |

The server must have been down when I tried it before..
So what's the deal with it? I've seen comments about them being bootlegs made over there rather than being old P n P stock like the site says. I bought three Hawks and a small Ripper.. The Hawk's art work looks just as good as the Ripper complete I bought off Ebay, Or the McGill I bought at Kona last April. The small Ripper paint wise, isn't as nice looking as any of my other Powells..
My thinking is Powell did sell them all that stuff. "Dumped" it on them, so to speak and everything is cool with them.. If you were going to make bootleg skateboard decks in China. Why would you make only Powell's? And why make Bug decks, when they are /were all over Ebay pretty cheap?
Thoughts?
Thanks,
Jeff.

No those Powell decks are all real. I asked George Powell about it and he vouches for their authenticity.
Golden Dragon Corp is Powell's distributor in China so it's real. It's still a big pain in the ass though. The guy wont ship any other way than priority China mail. You have to order at least 2 decks at a time and he charges $35 shipping on each deck.
I've asked about sticking them in the same box and "What kind of discount can I get if I buy 4 of them?". He wont budge from his set prices. He'll throw in some old skull and sword T's if you want... but they were all made in China and are medium/small sizes.
The prices are good but when you stack on the fact you'll have to buy at least 2, $35 on top of the price on each deck, and currency conversion... it's basically too rich for my blood.

When I bought mine I think I paid around $100 for each deck shipping included.. I also got a full set of the stickers and asked him to not charge shipping for them and he didn't. Of course it wasn't long before he found outt people were selling those Hawk's for quite a bit more then what he was charging, on Ebay and raised his prices.. (Which you can't blame him for doing..) By the time I got my decks (Which were packed great.. with no problems.) The prices had went up.
Outt..
Jeff.

I think PGDC was a good score for us all and Mr. Gao has been pretty cool all around. One thing though... The last order I placed to him, I paid the standard lousy $35 a deck for shipping and they were shipped via USPS from IOWA! The stamp read $17. I think Mr. Gao is originally from Iowa, so I think he had all the decks shipped there to save on shipping for himself. However, he still charges the insane amount, which doesn't sit too well with me, but the good deal on the boards equals it out I guess. When I asked him about the shipping from Iowa I didn't get a resonse. Hmmmm. Anyone else experience this? |
