What makes a toy, a silly skateboard sell for 1, 2 or 4 grand!?! And WHY would that pace be kept up? I got a killer Dtown Shogo Kubo airbeam, an ultra clean Salba K-beam, and a nice Dtown orig Bigfoot ...ALL in the same month... YIKES! Now I eat top ramen and peanut butter. Can you top this? Would you admit it? |

Don't just smile at me! Come on... admit it, you've been somewhere close to that right? I had to cut loose some way nice stuff to see dreams come true!
BTW, any interest in a deal for your 11.25" k-beam? |

Supply and demand, rarity. You wanted those decks (nice ones to have) badly enough to pay for them, that therefore makes them worth whatever you were willing to pay.
Most of the decks from the 70/early 80's got ridden, knowone really thought about hoarding them as investments, therefore there aren't as many left compared to what was produced. Now we all want to re-live our youth and own what we once had or coverted when we were kids.
If skateboarding died on its ass tomorrow then you lost your money. in the mean time enjoy the ride.
Got any pictures? |

I've been slowly moving from Ramen noodles to cheerios and I'm up to peanut butter and jelly after last months bank robbers-
I'm still kicking myself for selling my '79 Krypto foam core that was undrilled. But again, it was before my time and it went to someone that truely enjoys it.
I did sell it as fairly as I could and I refused to go ebay on everyone.
I guess it all depends on who the market is. Those who have good paying jobs see $1G as others would see $300, which makes skateboard collecting follow the highest payer.
My only suggestion is that you plan, save and know that what you're oogling over could (and probably will) go through the roof. Just accept it or forget that you've ever heared of it.
The madness has only begun! |
