Well our little town (Alabaster) finally got around to starting the public skate park here in Shelby Co. It's about 25 to 30 mintues south of B'ham. Skull bowl with pool coping and a street area is the 1st phase right now.
I'll try to get some pics of the progress as it goes on.
Supposed to be completed 10 weeks from the starting date. So whenever it's done we need to have a good round up of folks in the area or anyone on here passing through. |

I talked to the Contractor at the site. This is not the bowl. They are having to dig out a layer of soft/bad dirt that would settle when the concrete was poured. You see the new dirt being filled in on one of the pics. ONce this is completed, the park will sit up on a level mound.
The pool is to begin being dug out next week.
Digging out old dirt and replacing it with a different type of dirt for stability. Crazy. |

anyone still have the original design layout for the park? I have been looking around but can't find it.
@Zodiac13
Concrete will hurt dem purty drummer's hands if'n ya take a spill.
@Sig
I can't wait to skate with you and JW8 there! Seriously.....bringin' back those good ol' day's feelings. I have NEVER seen JW8 skate concrete though I head all about his days out West in the lands of the endless waves. haha It will be VERY interesting to see what all "old timers" come back outta the wood work when that park is done. Souza? Stefan Wiggins? Lex Hunt? Lee Sproul (sp?)? Ernie? Who knows...... |
