I have a question, and maybe someone will know the answer: Did the World Industries Vallely Mammoth on the cliff (his first one) have a thick, clear coat on it? A sort of shallac on it, or was it raw like any other old school deck? Any thoughts on this one???Thanks-

zach- did you get the board from sean faling? remember the red cab pig he was selling? hte one i got? well, it too had a thick shellac on it- and my answer is a definitive NO as far as it being a factory finish. i am supposed to get my money back from him for the cab but am still waiting(it hasnt ben too long). i skated a SMA/world industries "think crime" back in the day and of course it was a normal finish. anyway, i'd recommend if you want ot get your money back, or part of it to wait and see if everything goes smooth w/ my refund(oh, please, please, please wish me luck- i am too involved in fun things to chase this guy in rhode island-but i will!) as there is no sense in two of us getting shafted. i'll keep you posted.

Hey Grimey- YUP!! Its that Sean dude. I live in MA, and I have his address. He is about an hour away from where I live. I'm torn, because it is such a sick, rare deck- BUT cash IS cash... Thanks, TheHerd

I guess if you're really hardcore about wanting your boards to be exactly the same as when they came out of the woodshop then rant and rave about a thick clear coat. If all you want is a deck to hang on the wall and make you smile, then who cares?

A thick clear coat screams at least one thing... this thing has been worked on. Either it's a fake, been restored so it's not really mint, or somebody was trying to huff fumes and the only way they could do it without Momma getting suspicious was to say "I'm painting my skateboard!".

Sniiiiiifffff.. Aaaaaaah! I can feel the brain cells dieing as I type. Now where's my model glue?

jedi- i see your point about it not being that big of a deal- that is unless you've been lead to belive the board is original and have paid accordingly, only to discover its not.

Thanks GRIMEY for seeing my problem. I did pay quite a few clams for it, and it was stated NOS (which it is). That is what gets me the most about it-

bottom line; you expected one thing and got another.a thick clearcoat is not nos, so hassle the guy about it.sometimes telling the absolute truth can be hard for some...

what's wrong with clearcoat? I've got 2 clearcoated boards and was actually thinking of doing it to more of my stuff. They look better if you ask me. It's like perma-shrinkwrap without the creases.
