Alrighty, here goes...
I'm seriously considering hunting one down (I know, so is everybody's cousin) & wanted to see what kind of loot we're talking about. If you can fill me in on the price discretion between the shark & mermaid tail, that'd be helpfull too. From what I can tell, the mermaid tail's graphics are a little sicker. I sort of have figures in my head ($250 - $350) but want to make sure.
Thanks!

i honestly doubt you'd get a mint one on ebay- of either graphic for under $400. it just seems too popular a model and not enough to go around. agreed here that the mermaid is "sicker" as neptune usually has tattoos on that one- and the mermaid is more to my liking than the shark.

Damn lucky if you find one under $400, I'd say $500 at least, probally more.

I wanted one last year but refused to pay the $350-400 price tag, so I bought one this year for around $600. Lesson learned.

Look very close at the graphic...lots more than the tail is different....

...almost all details are seemingly more thought out in the Mermaid version. The Shark one looks like a very simplistic version. The sea serpant/banner, the throne, the foreground, the sand castle in back....all much more detailed in the Mermaid version. I never understood why there were two versions like that? The Shark one seems like a "rough draft" for the later model. Anyone have any ideas? Any info on what years each version ran? =)

I like the shark tail version better myself. Too much goin' on in the mermaid version, but still a rad graphic. I always thought the mermaid came before the shark, but I don't think that is the case anymore. I have a pretty mellow concave shark tail and a mermaid tail with a kicked up nose and a steep concave.

I too would like to be enlightened on the whole two version thing.

Two different artists actually! The first version (no tattoos) was by the old master - Jim Phillips. The second was redrawn by the young whipper snapper - Johnny Mojo. Both graphics kick ass, but I'd have to gie the edge in price to the original. Then again if you love tattoos or Johnny's art, you're gonna want the 2nd. To each his own...

Johnny Mojo actually did a lot of SC art that I had always attributed to Jim Phillips. The Jessee Flames and Virgin of Guadalupe decks were both Mojo designs. Ithink all of Jason's graphocs after the Sun God and OG Neptune were Mojo designs.

I dig the pill-poppin' "Elvis" Jessee characature on the Everslick deck.
Hilarous.
So, is this correct?
Two neptunes,
Sun God
Virgin
Flames
Everslick
Also....did they all have mini counterparts?
