Never posted in this section but been lurking.
Was buying a new rider the other day (got an alva 9.5 square tail) and notices some sweet longboards at the shop. Never gave them much thought but now I think I may hook one up.
They had this cool Lib-Tec longboard that was waaaay long (44?) with some sort of slick-like bottom (and dragon graphic).
What should I be llooking for when searching for one?
Any companies or products to definately avoid?

Lots of information, lots of opinions.
Longboards are killer. So many applications, so much fun.
There's so many cool companies making really cool stuff (what, am I 16 again?) You're just really gonna need to step on some different set-ups to see what you like.
Do you want to just cruise and carve around? Do you wanna bomb hills?
Ditches? Pools? Bob was working on some Longboard Freestyle stuff that was crazy.
Not trying to blow you off or be-little you. If you're just going for one longboard...what do you want to do with it? If you've got some coin and some time...you can make as many different fine rides as you want.
LibTech makes some SUPER nice decks. Was this a complete? What was it outfitted with?
See if you can track down the latest Concrete Wave buyers guide. Loads of longboard product to drool over. |

I dig longboards and have a few. One thing that makes it for me is a kicktail. Even on my flexy carver type, I gots to have one. Comes in very handy and makes the deck more versatile and useable for me.
Arbor makes some very sweet decks that can be ridden anywhere.
Quivers rule.

| So far all my longboards have a kicktail too. I need a concave more than a kicktail though. Depending on what your looking to do, I would recomend a long flexy carver type board ( with cutouts). Randal trucks and Abec-11 Gumball wheels. This will give you the longboard experiance, once you set the board up take her to an empty parkinglot with a slite grade and do some long sweeping carves. This will get you hooked for sure. Afterwards you can start thinking about your next setup, slideboard, hillbomber, etc. Also look into different wheel shapes and designs Abec-11 wheels are design for different purposes and can make a big difference also 3dm and Manx. Kyrptos will get the job done but are designed to be mass produced and the wheels fall short in many ways. |
