Yeah I saw those too. Stuff like that doesn't just pop out of nowhere. But when you look at them they sure look real.
I dunno... if it sounds too good to be true it usually is.

yeah, i mailed the guy about them but he hasnt written back- we'll see as i am going to mail him again tomorrow if no answer. but, its pretty conceited to think you guys know about ALL the old boards, dont you think? i've got plenty of boards that i got from acquaintances that dont advertise their collections- like an NOS black flag "loose nut" for instance- know another person w/ one? i dont but then again i didnt know of any before i got mine. still- its a little scary about the boards- the seller has only one feedback! hopefully it is ligit and everything will go smoothly!
forgot- you are right in that i dont htink they shrink wrapped them either.

They are sweeet...... there could be a possiblility that someone took some time and invested a little cash to protect these decks by shrink wrapping them. aftewords...
not that they wouldn't be factory shrink wrapped...
I would love one of those Cabs, no matter if it is a repro or not... it is just nice.... |

grime,
so they're legit or you don't care?one or the other, they look killer.one more thing; they all have a coat of paint so they could well be restored- hard to conceal restoration on a wood finish board...

Grime..
I would take em if they were legit or not... I just don't know how much cash I would pay for em....
Check out OVD'S forum as well, they are on this topic too...
Here are a few quotes that caught my eye:
"I would say buyer beware.... I certainly dont remember any Powell decks from that era being shrink wrapped..... I do however remember an article in an old skate/bmx mag from here in the UK talking about fake powells from China showing a 'can you spot the difference' with 2 tony hawk pigs like the one shown for sale..... also as a side thought, if you did fake a deck and didnt want it to be closely monitored its fairly easy to get shrink wrapping done, plus if it was shrinkwrapped who would want to rip it open and risk de-valuing it?... (plus the shrinkwrapping looks a bit too new to me, and the seller has a feedback of just 1.. hmmmm)
Just throwing some thoughts out there.."
"yeah, not that i think they are fakes, but the shrink wrap is bogus..
i remember skatebags back then, but no wrap...
there is a place here in town that does commercial shrink wrapping,
and i have thought about taking some of my NOS decks there to get
them done... hoping thats what this guy had done.... "
As for my opinion.. I couldn't be of any help, because any deck I bought back then wouldve been "off the shelf" and I know I have never baought anything shrink wrapped...but once again....not to say that they didn't have em shrink wrapped back then..
did the dude reply back to you yet??? I would be curious on what he has to say about the decks...

well, i mailed him again today but still waiting....
suicidal- i DO care if they are legit- and i hope they are. if it gets sketchy i will just retract my bids- although, it will suck to have THREE of those because of my impatience!
the wrap DOES look new- but its relatively easy to have them wrapped- my friends at printime (they do all DLX products) can do it for me.
bowlrider- what is this OVD? forum , if you will.
i'll keep you posted. i'm sure i'm not the only asshole asking this guy whats up, but i am the only asshole with all those bids!-hahahaha....
