Has anyone had Kopi Luak coffee? It's coffee that is from beans harvested from the excrement of an animal that eats the coffee cherry. Pricey and not particularly good in my option but I of course had to try it.

What is a Kopi Luak (Kopi Luwak)?
The only coffee of commerce today that is the product of an animal's digestive tract is Kopi Luak or Luwak from Sumatra, Java and Sulawesi in Indonesia. It is reported that the yearly crop is about 80 LB total. It retails in the US for about $18.50 oz. or $296.00 LB. and is available from John Martinez & Son in Atlanta, GA.
According to the former head of the Indonesian national zoo, as told to the Smithsonian's rep. Kopi Luak is a fiction with a great sales pitch. |

I can't stand coffee, had a bad experience with it a while back and haven't had it since. I stick to Coke/Pepsi or Mountain Dew in the mornings, works best and doesn't give you such god awful breath.
Although I guess it wasn't a good idea to drink two pots of coffee before skating a contest, that might have something to do with my distaste for it. |

@steve-g
I grind my own beans for esspresso. it is the only way to get it right. For esspresso, i just grind it by the shot. Conical Burr Grinder is the way to go. They last longer than cylindrical burr grinders and blade grinders are just shit. |

I have gotten to where I really prefer a good light roast ...
black or extra strong black over ice
more caffeine than Dark roasts and
(I think it's because of starbucks) dark roasts almost always taste burnt to me...
lately I have been digging Folger's breakfast blend in the giant arthritis-friendly tub...
I was thinking the other day how my coffee drinking and my (former) beer drinking career had an odd parallel... start off drinking shitty beer/coffee.. go through a period of experimentation with the fancy shit... get all snobby for a few years , then eventually end up drinking the cheap stuff again, not because it's cheap; just because i like it better...
I've been thinking about trying to get ahold of an old Percolator... make some good old grandma style coffee... |

Homeblend of Folgers Decaf and Millhouse Hazelnut Caf.
The wife has high blood pressure, so we split the difference...and I'm too lazy to make 2 pots.
Usually taken with a spot of Bols Butterscotch Schnapps. |
