This whole Carlsbad Skateboard park has got me thinking.I still have dreams about all those abandoned skateparks that were left in the mid/late 80's.I hopped the fence and skated at Reseda when only those 2 pools were open.Ah,those long runs.....Staring through the fence at Skatepark Paramount,wanting to hit that snake run one more time(now a industrial park/Cop station) I can still see the tombstone on the half pipe wall between the wall next to the church.I think it would be a shame to let Carlsbad get broken up.New parks are cool,don't get me wrong.This place has a soul though.I'm not religous at all,but this could be a "Mecca" for alot of people.Kona for the east,Carlsbad for the west.I'd pay $20 for a session there,no problem.If they smash it,maybe I'd build a replica,and steal features from all the parks I rode at,and build an old folks skatepark.25 years from now,we might need it.Still get a rush,even with a fake hip........

You want to ride a '70s style park, hop a plane to Vancouver -- Seylynn was built in '76 and it's awesome! These shots are taken in the fall/winter so it looks cruddy, but it's just beautiful in the summer.

Then you can hit Bonsor and Hastings for a newschool style

Sweet pics, I like the sunbursts and lense flairs, they give a period feel. Those parks look really fun.

I skated both Hastings & Seylynn last time up for a Canucks game. Hastings was def. a NW style park that I'm more used to but Seylynn was just an awesome time & my wheels didn't even leave the ground.
Whiterock was the one I was disapointed with. Maybe eating complete shite didn't help much, lol.

@Eggman,

I'm with you man.

I'd love to find an old abandoned park with some mellow runs.

Going vert at Glendale just aint in the cards for my old ass.

in the melbourne suburb of waverley there used to be a 10 foot keyhole that I skated a few times in the early 90's. I went back there 2003 and it was gone.

I asked these passing high school kids what happened to it and they looked at me like I was nuts. "what skatebowl???, there ain't never been a skatebowl here!"

hallam said that it had been filled in.

it was very cool and very scary to skate.

So I wonder how many parks in the US met this fate of just being covered over, and for future skate archaeologists to "re-discover"
