White on Black???

whats up all...... i went ahed last night and fucked up a run of black shirts last night while trying to get some white printed on em....(gotta love the learning process)

i was running 125 with unano qtx
pulled some union lo bleed white through it
flat edge squeege
going on 100% cotton shirts


could not get a good coat for the life of me?
squeege pressure?
mabye i should have used my round edge squeege?
off contact increase decrease?

any takers?

there are tales of those who can print hundreds of black shirts an hour on a manual press with jsut one pass of white...
the rest of us mortals print flash print...
give it a try you'll like it much better

yep, we've all heard the fish tales, but in 15 years I've yet to see it actually happen with my own eyes. Flash is the way to go.

modify your ink using soft hand reducer or a curable reducer (PLUS-9000 from union ink) so that it flows through the mesh. If you have to really muscle it through that mesh count then you need to reduce. That coupled with a print/flash/print and you will be fine. We print white ink through 200 and sometimes 230, works great, you use less ink, and get more detail and the print is thinner

For those of you who run a conveyer how do you get your registration back or do you have one of those overhead swivel ones

Both, we have a conveyor and a flash unit on a stand. We use the flash to gel the ink (so it's dry to the touch but not cured) and then lay down the second pass of ink. Then it comes off the press and onto the conveyor dryer.
