gee thanks Grumpy,Im a machine,my wife thinks im a hermit, cause thats all i do.Computers are cool but not necessary, thats my opininon, sometimes more than others ,computers replace the artist. To use a computer right you have to have a insight to what you would do with out a computer, the computer to me is a fancy pencil, but as far as text and moving stuff around, priceless, remember this is my opinion!

Dude,
not trying to bag on you in any way. Just saying what is true. It ain't that easy. Those of us that do it have either been schooled for years, on top of whatever "gifts" we were granted, or just toiled it out in the salt mines... bottom line...it's like being a pro skater...you either are or you ain't. You can learn certain skills, you can sharpen your eye, you can be all you can be...but if it ain't you...it ain't you.

I've been skating since 1975. I've been "making art" since about 1973. I could feed my family off my art...they might get skinny...but I could do it. They would die if I had to feed them from my skating talents.

That all being said...keep it up. Not trying to kick you out of the secret club or anything...just want you to understand it's not about software, or tutorials, it's about YOU!

A book I picked up recently has a lot simple, easy to understand, photoshop tips.

Classic Photoshop Effects by Scott Kelby.

Gives you the ingredients for most of the classic (duh...since it's in the title) photoshop tricks. Couple that with a little creativity...there you go...a start.

Don't get too nutty with photoshop tricks though...it's painful to look at.

Good luck with it all.

Pick up Juxtapoz art magazine too....lots of inspiration.
