I gotta PC DVD burner for Chritmas. All hooked up and software loaded.. I wanted to make duplicate disks from store bought DVDs. Only for back-up of course
But I get a message that the original DVDs are protected.. Are all DVDs protected or am I missing something here, maybe I need different software?? Everyone was telling me I could burn any DVD weither store bought - rented, ect..
If I cant burn duplicate copies of DVDs, I dont need it....
BTW: The burner does fine on CDs.
Thanks for the help..

I don't know if it's true and I haven't tried it yet, but I've heard if you cover up the bar codes on the innermost part of the disk, you can copy it.
I guy that works at Best Buy told one of my co-workers that. |

you probably wont be able to just copy the DVDs. you'll have to get a DVD ripping program and basically copy it to your hard drive and then burn it to DVD after that. I dont know what software to use for PC as i'm a mac guy but I'm sure there are several decent ones available. Tha's what I've done in the past and it works great. |

Look on the internet for programs called dvd shrik or dvd decrypter. They should take out the copyright and you can use it. |
