Iron Chef Chili Challenge!

Today's most honorable competition features chili!

Please post your favorite chili recipe.

Here's ours.

'Gredients:
1 lb. ground turkey (both white & dark)
1 large onion, chopped/diced
4-5 cloves garlic, also chopped
1 can diced tomatos (with it's juice)
2 cans black beans (frijoles negros)
3 tsp chili powder
2 tsp cumin
generous pinch of oregano
dash of salt and freshly ground pepper (to taste)
1/4 tsp red pepper flakes
dark, unsweetened chocolate

Procedure:
Cook turkey in 1 Tbs olive oil.
Add in onions, sautee until soft, then throw in garlic. Cook for a few minutes.
Wash the beans in cool water while this is sauteeing.
Add spices. Cook for a few minutes.
Add canned ingredients.
Stir.

This is best in a crock pot, but if don't have three hours (on high) to spare, you can do it in on the stove. Cook 45 minutes to an hour over low heat, stirring periodically.

Once it's through cooking, take your block of dark, unsweetened chocolate, and grate it in and stir, stopping once the liquid attains a velvety texture. You'll probably need about a half a block or so.

Serve in a bowl.

Add shredded cheese of your choice (I like cheddar), then sour cream, then oyster crackers. Stir it all up. Shovel it down your gullet with a spoon. Go back for more.

It's very good (sometimes better) the second day, as is the case with most things prepared in a crock pot.

I didn't realize that you came up with the whole Iron Chef thing.

Just think, all this time I assumed that it was some Japanese fellow.

At least I added the whole "Squeezon,!" thing...

It's definitely getting on towards fall up this way, and while we'll probably have our windows open for another month, it clearly isn't summer anymore. Besides, any weather is chili weather.

Ingrediants:
1.5 lbs. ground beef, buffalo or elk
1 large onion, chopped/diced
2 red and 2 green peppers (chopped)
5 large cloves garlic, chopped
2 cans diced tomatos (with juice)
1 large can brown beans with bacon and molassis
1 large can kidney beans(with juice)
1 can pinto beans (no juice)
1 small can tomato soup
1 small can of tomato paste
1/2 cup ketchup
2 shots of Louisianna Hot Sauce
2 shots of Worchestershire Sauce
couple splashes of vodka
7 tblsp chili powder
2 tblsp red pepper flakes
2 tblsp cumin seed
3 tblsp cayanne Pepper
3 tblsp vinagar
3 tblsp brown sugar
3 tblsp salt
2 tblsp dehydrated onion
1 tblsp oregano
2 tblsp basil
1 tblsp dried parsely


Cooking:
Use a cast dutch oven
brown the beef and drain.
Add in onions and some olive oil, sautee until caramalized, then add garlic.
Cook for a few minutes.
Add everything else.
Bring to a boil (kind of) then turn it down.
Simmer for 4 hours stirring occassionaly to cook off excess liquid.

Grab some buns and eat it!

2 LBS Top Round beef - cubed in to 1" squares
1 LG TX sweet onion - diced
1 BIG ASS green pepper - diced
2 14oz cans DK red kidney beans - drained
1 14 oz can diced tomato
1 package Wik Fowler's 2 alarm chili kit...

sautee first three, dump in next 2, add seasonings from kit, simmer 2 hours

toppings:

grated sharp cheddar
sour cream
pickled jalapenos
corn tortillia chips
