Back here until Dec. 3rd....any suggestions on good places to eat? I didn't really venture out much last time, but a $60/day per diem really motivates me to eat well this time. haha

A.

Huts on W. 6th,
El Camino on E. 6th (killer juke box and bar too)
Dirtys on Guadalupe

Homecookin'...
Shady Grove on Barton Springs

Austin is fat with good eatin' AVOID THE CHAINS too much local stuff that kills to go to the chains. Pick up The Austin Chronicle...local free weekly...usually has reviews of various places.

What's the exit number for the C-Fan ditch if going from San Antonio towards Austin? I forgot already. Met Jim there last time. Looking foward to a return trip out there. I also miss the 69-bowl too!

Just thought of the salt lick bbq outside of Austin. My old best buddy Adam is a bartender at maybe the Whiskeybar - he doesn't typically stay anywhere too long...just long enough for them to find out how much he's been drinking and/or giving away, but I'll try and check it out. He's known to be quite hospitable that way.

Hey Amorone
If you're heading south take 209... (Blanco River)
a little ways past the way station there's a turnoff to the right with a sign saying 35n .. take that turn and follow it around under the bridge.. it T's at the access road.. turn right and CFAN will be on your right about a mile and a half or so ... lemme know when you wanna go out there or whatever... I am currently unemployed so I have a little free time.. probably got some softer wheels for ya if ya want or you can borrow a setup for ditch stuff

if you're in San Antonio be sure and check out Little Hipps for burgers....they'vt got 'regular' burgers up to, i think 1lb'ers..

and yea stubbs kicks ass...great bbq and great music

if you dig thai food, head over to guadalupe by UT and *just* west of dean-something street there's a yellow building set back behind a dominoes and 7-11 and they've got some killer (..and cheap) thai food

if you're in the mood for a movie, check out the alamo draft house..they've got midnight movies and wierd old flicks...

when the new shaft movie came out, they played the original with richard roundtree and handed out free 40oz of schlitz....ahh good times
