I just got sdf* internet in my house and I am worried about all these illegal pirate music and movie sharing sites.

I want to avoid them.

which ones are bad and should be avoided at all costs because they are super fast, offer the widest range of movies and music and would only encourage more people to "swap" or "share" files. tch tch tch.

*super duper fast.

well www.kazaa.com is fast, but I hear there is alot of spyware there. just remember you can't get in trouble for downloading, only for letting others upload.
I lean toward www.winmx.com

I don't use these kind of sites (really) but I hear good things about Soulseek, eMule and eDonkey

personally, i use bittorrent. it spyware free, open source (so you can modify it if you know how), and 10 times faster than kazaa and the likes. It does this because the more you upload, the faster you download, so everyone gets a good file speed.

you guys are my bros so I think its time I let you in on a little secret.
What I'm about to share wit hyou is gonna prolly sound like BS but believe me, its not. I've tried it and I use it al lthe time.

Go to www.allofmp3.com and choose the english version of the page. Sign up for VIP service and paypal them 10 bucks. The way it works is: they charge you 1cent for every meg of music download. Generally, an entire album costs about 80 cents.

You install their download satellite software, select songs or albums, and encode them online at the encoding quality and file format you want, and then the satellite downloads them.

Me and a bunch of my friends are doing it and it works perfectly. It does look to good to be true but I've been doing it for 3 months now and not one problem. And the site is kinda like CDNOW or amazon in terms of how many albums they have. Check it out.

That site is pretty cool, but I think it's still illegal:

Users are responsible for any usage and distribution of all materials received from AllOFMP3.com. This responsibility depends on the local legislation of each user's country of residence. AllOFMP3.com's Administration does not keep up with the laws of different countries and is not responsible the actions of non-Russian users.

Not that it matters much to me, but I thought others should be aware of it...

If you use Kazaa, at least get the Kazaa Lite version. It doesn't have the spyware that the full version does.

If you are going to dl mp3's thru ANY service, just make sure you have antivirus software and that it's up to date. Don't want to go round spreading nastys, now do we?
