I've been attempting to screen my first image onto a deck (no pics yet). I am using speedball acrylic inks. The screen is about 1/4 of an inch off of the deck (except at the edges due to concave, it is off about 1/2" here). My image came through, however it is really blotchy and smudged looking. You can see where the real image edges would have been but i got a lot of extra ink on there somehow. What did i do wrong? Too much ink? Did I push down on the squigee too hard? etc.....
Throw out your opinions folks, it's the only way I have to learn this shit
Thanks,
~SS

I never screened a board before but I got to believe that if your mesh is 1/4 above the surface your going to make a mess.

Had to dig around other places for some answers......
the 1/8" to 1/4" gap inch gap is on either side of the board where the concave bend causes the gap to widen. The distance is actually ok, I had to correct my squigee angle, and put my fingers down on the rubber part of the squigee to guide it along the contour of the board. Pulled a couple practice runs on paper last night and they are starting to look a lot better.

Still taking suggestions, tips, ideas that you guys have found along the way that my help my learning process. I'll throw some pics on here later.
