anybody know of any websites that have a closeup satellite view of cities.....we are looking for any pools, ditches, and still trying to find these 20 footer pipes out in the woods somewhere

Try Microsoft's Terraserver, or whoever owns it now. http://terraserver.microsoft.com or Terraserver.com, etc...

I used the various GPS sites or whatever to look up all of the houses I lived at growing up and schools I went to. The link above seriously is to my high school track...

same here.... i've looked up all my old house (florida and ohio), i even found my grandparnets farm out in rural ohio. that was kind of cool because my grandfather built the place by hand in the early 1900's and i'm sure he never imagined his grandson looking at the place from a satelite photo on the internet.

the coolest thing i found though was that place called "love canal" in NY. it was a neighborhood outside niagra falls, NY that had to be closed off due to that fact that all these houses had been built on a toxic waste dump. i thought it might be hard to find, but no.....that thing stuck out like a sore thumb!!!! big blank area.... you can see all these deserted streets.....kind of creepy, but very cool!!!!
