hello, i'm new at this, and i wanted to ask some questions.
I just purchased a speedball starter kit, and i will be burning my own screens. the questions i have are
1. what wattages and distances and times should i use
2. burning a screen from the sun(i.e. sticking the screen outside on a summer day) any pointers? |

i used an outdoor flood light(the really bright halogen ones in the yellow frame for about $20)and put it 2 or 3 feet away for about fifteen minutes. |

Ditto... I used a clear 300w bulb, 17in away from frame.. for 7 min-8 max . I'd also recommend getting a piece of glass to fit larger than your design (helps push the image to the mesh/emulsion for a crisp burn) but smaller than the ID of your frame...scotch tape works too.."use both in my book" don't forget to put the frame on top of something blk (like a blk shirt)for the burn.
Later on I built my own exposure box using 4 55K flouresant lights.. also could shoot 2 frames at once..and both exposed in 3 min..
I've never done the outside burn.. but from what i heard 15-20 seconds on a sunny day... 30-40 secs on a cloudy/over cast day.. good luck on that one...

yes.

if you over expose your screen you will find it very hard to wash out your image and if you dont expose it for long enough the image will not come out right... |
