Whats up everyone, I am new to the boards. I love all the Info In here, very helpful. I am a Graffiti artist out of Illinois and I am cosidering have some decks printed with some graff work (small quanity to start) or just considering buying some blank decks and doing original custom graff on the decks (would have to price higher being they are originals). Do you think graff on decks would sell well? Please point me In the right direction, I don't have all that much money to work with and I really want to succeed In this little venture. Also If you think Its a good Idea what should I price them at? Thanks for all your help.
Here Is a custom board I sold a little while back. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?...3&item=3675871628

Cool stuff- there is probably a market for graf stuff out there...I would be interested in having you do a custom deck for me if possible. Also there is a shop owner here that might be able to use some work for his shop decks.Get in touch w/ me-

It completely depends why you want to do graffiti on skateboards. Do you want to make money and start a company, promote yourself and your artwork, sell your artwork...?

If you want to start a company do a couple runs of decks.

If you want to sell you artwork do originals on blanks.

If you want to promote yourself and art do stickers, shirts, hats and stuff that won't cost as much as a deck and will apeal to people other than just skaters.

I would suggest putting together a portfolio and sending it to some skate companies. They are always interested in freelance shit. I might even be interested in something/.

if u want my 2c worth....oasis is right.
to get your art out set up a web site and promote it and sell "custom one off" art pieces on decks.....
i never want to tell an artist what to do....but.....if u wanna sell decks for decks sake u r dealing with kids on the whole and i think graph peices with more of a theme rather than just a burner word would be the way to go....infact themed burners would be more mass appealing on the whole.

hit me up if anything i have said makes sence and if u wanna talk more about the idea....

Thanks for all your suggestions, I appreciate It all. Do you know on an average what custom decks go for? Reason I ask Is I don't know If I should have some decks printed with my stuff or just sell them custom. Also does anyone know of some skateshops that pick up and sell custom decks, and If so what would I be able to sell It to them for since they are going to resell? Thanks for all your help guys!

Well getting decks printed would look better to the consumer but doing custom decks could attract quite a following. Kids would want their names and shit on there and you could undersell the shops, although that isnt very good for the skateboard community. If you find a good source for blanks i would sell them for like 25 to shops so they can keep the retail price low while still making some profit.

Just go to any shop and tell them about your decks and what the whole deal is. Maybe offer custome decks to the shops, that would be cool.

Just some thoughts, I hafta get back to "work" at a skate shop.

And If I were to do custom decks does anyone know of a good company to buy blanks from, and If so how much am I looking at a deck? The one deck I did before I bought for $20.00 for the blank, It was canadian maple though, did I over pay? Thanks agin guys....

You can usually get 25.00-30.00 from shops... It all depends on how many you buy at a time. Try blankdecks.com, ozonemanufacturing.com or skatepaige.com for some decent princed blanks
