I plan to start manufacturing skateboards later this year when I get enough money put away. I started a list of what I know and what I don't know (almost everything) about the stages, processes and costs involved in manufacturing skateboards.
Here is my list so far, please tell me what I have missed out, or help answer anything I don’t have written down and I shall update it for all to see.

Skateboard Manufacture
Veneer
What veneer = The standard is 7 plies hard rock maple from great lakes of North America. Is there alternates locally, Scandinavian birch?
Suppliers.. Any locally?
Size = at least 35” X 10”
Cost..
Grit = 220?
Staining
Type = Why dye should be used?
Application = Dye box?
Duration = How long should wood be left to dye.
Glue + Catalyst
What glue = National Casein, make specialized skateboard glues and catalysts.. http://www.nationalcasein.com . Is there local suppliers?
Catalysts = k1, k4 or k10
Glue application = paint rollers?
Press
Hydraulics.. What psi/ton hierodulic pump is needed. 200/300 psi or 2000 ( http://www.boardpass.com/riotlounge/b...teboardlarge.html )
Press frame.. Custom constructed from steel?
Molds.. = Steel custom Built? Construct from plywood and top with aluminum? Mold from concrete using an uncut blank from another factory?
How will I attach the hydraulics to the frame and molds?

Separate decks on the press with grease paper?
Quantity = 4 boards per press?

Curing
After lamination leave to cure for 24 hours?
What conditions are best to let cure?
Cutting
1 - Rough cut with bandsaw.
2 - Mark with template.
3- Cut around template.
Bandsaw cost = approximately £250
Drilling
Where can I get a 4 bit drill press, or should it be done individually?

Drill cost = approximately £100
Rounding Edges
Equipment = router and belt sander?
Cost = (Belt sander = approximately £100) (Router approximately £100)
Supplier = Industrial tool shop or ebay.
Method = Make a jig with the router facing mouth up out of a table, move board edge around the router bit. Use a ¼ inch router bit? Use belt sander to smoothen out and finish the deck.
Dip Coating
Equipment?

What substance is used?
Application = Spayed??
Does this require a spray room with extractor fan?

Screen printing
Minimum 110 mesh count, higher mesh count = higher quality. A higher mesh count should be used for more complex graphics.
