Tina - did you buy them from Mollica?
If they are Turner Avalons, HOLD ON TO THEM!
Put them on a wall hanger Turner, like I'm doing. I've got what might possibly be the last original foam Turner (a stiff yellow Fullnose), and I'm bolting it up with some NOS Turner Avalons, Turner bearings, a Turner TTC 110 truck in the rear, and very likely a Tracker 106 RT-X in the front. It will be my tribute to Bob Turner (RIP).
It will be my ONLY board that has never been ridden, and one of only two that is on display in my house (the other is my Guinness Book cross-country board).
Turner boards are truly works of ART. One look and you'll agree. |

Tina, at least you're not the kook who paid $81 for a used set on eBay last week. Ed E is smiling...
No, they're not made in China. Turner Downhill (which was a partnership between Howard Gordon and Bob Turner), was dissolved in March '03, about a year after Bob Turner died.
Peggy Turner (wife of Bob), decided to run her own company more like Bob did, with handmade decks coming out of their San Diego shop. It was only semi-successful, unfortunately, and now she's partnered with an English gentleman named Steve Church, and they have formed Turner SummerSki Ltd., and will be building boards in England.
Howard Gordon, who developed the TTC offset truck and the Cambria, Avalon, and Avila wheels, renamed his company after the split to 3dm Sport. Logo engraving in the wheel molds were changed at AND Urethane (formerly Robot Urethane) to reflect the change. Howard sold 3dm Sport to Dan Gesmer of Seismic in January '04. 3dm wheels are the winningest wheel in slalom racing, having taken 38 of 39 podium positions at the '03 Worlds in September.
I repped for all three companies, but have discontinued doing so, as I'm focusing on building my own products.

Steve Church, I've spoken to him. He did mention he was a Turner dealer. I don't ride slalom, but was fascintated by the wheels on a buy-it-now auction with some slalom DVDs...(Didn't want it to sound like I was dissing Kenny Mollica, I'm not at all)
I hope Peggy is sucessful in her mission, and best of luck to you too! Keep us posted.

Kenny is a great guy - also World Slalom Champion - I was his mechanic and coach for the Worlds, or so he says - he didn't need any help, just focus.
Turner boards are now rare beasts - marabout slim has one I sold him recently that's used but nearly mint - he thinks it's a little small for him, which might be true.
If you want some 3dm wheels for cruising on, I will suggest the following online dealers:
http://www.3dm-sport.com/
http://www.asphaltplayground.com/
http://www.bahneskateboards.com/
http://www.longskate.com/
I've got a red 3dm board here, with red Tracker RT-X offsets, and red 78a Avalons in the rear. Kinda weird to be so color coordinated.
You also might want to check out the 69mm Manx wheels from Pocket Pistols:

I haven't seen any production wheels yet, but the prototypes looked good. Basically a shaved Avalon. |

I've got a set of MANX wheels. Really, really nice. I'll be replacing all my Turners on my slalom boards with these when the different sizes come out.

Apparently the Turners are out-of-print, I mean, they sold to Seismic, right?
The new Avalons are marked 3DM. I have a set marked Turner..?
