I love that decks used to be unique enough (design/shape) that they were actually worth trading for other decks.
Concaves too. I stepped onto that McGill and thought where the hell is the concave and why did I trade for this log? Check ya later Mike.
It is so weird that I can remember some of these scenarios like it was yesterday. I still remember most of the boards my pals skated back then.
Since telling another old friend about the deck he pointed me to youtube to check out some old VHS footage that was just posted from another friend who would record at old punk rock gigs so I checked those out too. From 1988 and what a ride down memory lane that was. Even spotted myself in the crowd getting down at a Doughboys show.
The guy that gave me back my JJ has some Betamax footage of us skating at some demo we did way back in 86 or 87. I can't wait to see that stuff.
What an interesting last few days probing the memory banks.

I reconnected with an old friend yesterday and paid him a visit and we were looking at some of his old shit like old posters from his room and old skate decks he still had and then he shows me the JJ and I said "Holy fuck, that's my old deck!"
It was worn out and remember giving it to a buddy to skate until he got a new deck. He sold it to my other friend for $20 who then destroyed the thing and now it is back in my hands. The stickers were shit and were none that I originally put on (those were removed by one of those two guys along the way) so I peeled them off with a hairdryer except the one Vision Streetwear sticker. I had a smile on my face all day yesterday.
