One is being sold locally and looks to be in good shape. Looking for an approximate value.

post a pic of the board (load the file up on imageshack or a similar site and copy the URL link into the post on here), else it's going to be veeeery tough to give an estimation.

for instance, if you're talking about the deck in the ad - it's DP's first model, they go for anything between $300 for a beater and prolly something like 3-4K+ for one in near mint condition (depending on who's happening to chase one...). Plus, the green/black colorway is rarer than the more common red/black version (wasn't that a prototype/teamrider version?? can't remember), but I'm not sure if and how it'll have an influence on the "value". there's currently a well used specimen on ebay which has the yellow/black colorway... check it out, might give you an idea...

Thanks sonicdan.
I had this board when I was 13, but could never land those layback rollouts in a pool.

Is that white under the green where its scratched—or is that just the way its catching the light?

It’s hard to say. On some of the scratches it looks like there is a border of white.

The reason I ask is that back in the day just before the DP decks were released, NHS dumped and entire first run of decks meant to be the first DP model because they did not meet the quality expected. These decks had a white primer to cover up the poor quality of the wood and manufacture. They were put in NHS' dumpster which was later raided by a person who took the decks to another woodshop were they were shaped and painted with the DP graphic. As Jeff Kendall explained to me, the tell on what he considered to be fakes was they had a white primer on them when they were disposed off and the guy who scooped them printed/painted over the basecoat. Santa Cruz boards did not have pre-shot primer on the product—all paint/print/basecoat etc was done at Santa Cruz (this was just before Santa Cruz' manufacturing moved their manufacturing to a furniture woodshop in Wisconson that created some of the best decks ever).

Kendall informed that the guy went around to skate shops offering these decks for a fraction of their usual wholesale price and thus was able to move them quickly and before NHS could interfere. By the time NHS realised what had happened, all the decks had been sold. The white primer is the tell, he said.
