Yeah, man! Grip tape art kicks ass! I just recently drew the Lucero Thumbhead along with the words "never forget - 9/11/01." I know that's not very original, but I needed to react to the events somehow. Making grip tape art helped, even if it was just copying someone else's work. In response to your question, I'd really like to see an exhibit of old tape art - especially work by the Gonz. He had some great things on the tops of his old boards. Unfortunately, I don't think much (if any) of these works survived. Mounted, ridden, and discarded like a drunk date. |

I love to draw on grip-tape, I'm a big Misfits, and Social Distortion fan. I always draw the logos on my grip. One time I bought a bunch of red, and white colored grip, and cut it to make the japanese rising sun logo for my grip. I think it really gives you a good positive feeling to have you own art work on you deck.

Doing art in grip is great. I got bored not too long ago and did a modified "Rising Sun" grip job on an old school blank. Check it out... |

It went faster than I thought it would. Maybe 1 hour to trace it out and another 2 cutting it. |
