Some at the bottom have a 1979 mark.
In the design. In the scroll work.
Some do not.
Any specificity on this? |

Thank you
Interestingly enough that article does not even mention the little detail I’m talking about.
Let alone answer the riddle.
Which is surprising. |

Actually it does - the FAT tail graphic came out in 1980 acording to the article:
1980-1985
Around 1980, or as near as I can tell, Powell's top graphic switched to the classic two-color dragon and banner emblem. Typical colors for this logo were blue, golden yellow, red and metallic gold. This top logo does not bear a "TM" or any copyright info beneath the banner.
If you have one that says 1979, please post a picture, because according to Powell, it was copyrighted in 1980 |

I was under the impression that the copyright version is the earliest fat tail dragon version. |

The article does not address what I’m talking about.
In the banner like in the pic provided.
Not the 1980 TM date. |

There is a hot pink Hawk iron cross with a blue fat tail dragon on ebay right now. It has the same copyright 1979 mark as yours. FWIW, dudes story says he got it special order from his local skate shop in 84 or 85.
My blue iron cross has the golden yellow fat tail dragon and no copywright nor trade mark but I have no idea when it was originally purchased. |

Just saw another fat tail dragon on ebay with the copyright 1979 like yours. This time it was on a red McGill skull and snake which came out in 1984 according to AoS. I think it's safe to say that the fat tail dragon with a copyright 1979 in the banner is not an early fat tail dragon. |
