I can relate to that big time—though I have no partners that a lawyers and its been millions of cuts. And because we moved to a big enterprise server farm we were subjected to attacks on various corporations, government and CIA sites in the same farm and SPS also came under attacks foisted by shitty skatepark building companies that SPS pissed off.
Ebay hurt us bad too.
So has advertising—doesn't help when certain members attack your advertisers.
I haven't had the cash or time to produce sellable stuff for the site either while the fish churned that stuff out. I still have a shit ton of super high quality S&B stickers I haven't recouped off of.
She's 7 now and getting more and more expensive every day. She's worth it though.
The injuries and surgeries really fucked and most of my companies and me over —but so to has the strength of the American dollar. While I'm paying 30-cents more on the dollar for product my customers will not accept that increase on their end and the fact that I haven't been able to skate so I'm not out in the parks promoting the products has seen speed-dealer distribution and its online and mobile arms slam headlong into a brick wall in terms of sales and its too expensive to order new product too.
At least I can say I got a good fucking this last two years! LOL!
If I've learned one thing in my time here, it's that you're one tough motherfucker. Take it and roll with it!
In the meantime, my coffers are a little dry...I was saving up for a bass guitar, but had some hot deals come through as they were cleaning out the Silverfish office, so I diverted my money into that. But, what can an average user like me do to help this site out? I've already seen 2 of my favorite skateboard sites fold, and it's becoming apparent that it's high time to take a more active user approach on the forums I still have left |

Stay active, promote the site to others, cross your fingers and buy lotto tickets.
I previously haven't tried to sell or do trade on facebook, but I'm currently trying to sell my Jeep and I have to say, the people I've dealt with in this regard are some of the most annoying motherfuckers on the planet! I have to wonder if that is in part because of Facebook—never had such dealings here |

If you know any millionaires, we could use a grant. |

I don't know... seems to be tied to facekook so probably the same people drawn to facekook. Same with Twitter. And all have turned into incredible time suckers. The rare times you find something infinitely cool, you go back for a second look a week and its nearly impossible to find. |

I always loved this place and made a few great friends here.
I would be very sad to see it going down.
But that said,
My honest opinion is that times are changing.
Facebook and Instagram is the future and has a few advantages against this place. You can place pics and sell/raffle/buy with one hit on the button, cost free. You like someone's pic of his collection with one hit. And you can start a chat with almost anyone in the world. Getting answers right away instead of waiting for days on a respond on your pm.
The fact Photobucket killed everyone's pictures on here, didn't really help either.
And face it, everyone tells they hate Facebook, but what....85-90% of the members here, are active there.
It seems an unfair battle with the outcome already known.
This place has been losing activity for a few years now and it keeps going on. I check this forum almost daily and see this is happening day by day.
I made donations, and a lot of us do, but there's no obligation doing it, so obviously a lot of us don't or haven't done ever.
So that won't be the solution to the financial problems either.
Hope there's a solution to all of this.
Just my look on this. |
