I bought one just last night. It's great! It is a lot of fun. However, it is only for downhill usage. You will not be able to use it on flat pavement. If you want flat pavement, go with the Carveboard Stik. Made by the same guys (professional surfers) and it approximates more a Surf/Skateboard hybrid.
If you're a surfer, then definitely the Carveboard is for you. I don't skate, just surf and this thing is amazing. The only downside is what I mentioned: no way to use it on flat pavement
Other than that it's great. Oh and it's not a speed deamon, this is for carving, not going fast. |

Here's what I ride. The only original part of the Stik left on this board are the trucks.

its hard as hell, but some people rip with them. just like i saw some kid do 5050 like 'grinds' with this 16 wheeled board. if you get used to it it could be useful
there is this kid who uses a snakeboard in the bowls, and he KILLS it (airs, grinds etc) but he isnt too good on a normal board. |

Would love to try one but damn pricey...
@ Daddy Yo: I was admiring the setup, what are the components? (aside from the mongoose bindings, I recognize those)
and deck dimensions? |

The set up is:
Mongoose Mountainboard bindings
Mongoose Mountainboard R6 bearings
Stik trucks
MBS Mountainboards yellow spring inserts (egg shocks)
Kryptronic wheels
Custom deck - one ply thicker and 1.5" shorter than the Lil Stik deck, 8" wide |

I tired a Carveboard at a demo here in Seattle. It was not too bad on hills and anything with somewhat of a slope, but flat land? fahgettaboutit....the center of gravity is tough when you're on flat land and it is tough to kick on....it gets the bigtime speed-wobbles at low speeds. But if you want a good slower carving board a carve board is good.
My personal favorite is a my Bareback dirt board set up with wedged 215 Indys and Xskate cherrybombs or these sector nines I have on now. This holds the apex and has tight and responsive control. Did I mention how nice it is in the pool?

I have a carveboard and it rips! I love mine... It really is a blast. It is totally different than skating a regular longboard, it's made for carving, not bombing a hill. You can still get flying though! They turn on a dime and the inflatable wheels really grip the road. It's like surfing or snowboarding on dry land... Highly reccomended IMHO. Roger "Doc".
