what is the whole process of using photo emulsion to burn a image from a transparency onto a silk screen? How long does it take? How do you store it, how long does it have to dry, what is the process?

Thanks,
Jason

This is what I do, Im not sure what others do. Once I apply the emulsion to the screen, I let it dry over night in a dark closet. Then in the morning I put my transparencies over the emulsion in the correct positioning. I leave it under my exposure unit for about 20min then rinse it out with the hose. Thats the basic steps to it, other will have similar methods but for the most part are the same...

Sounds like you have alot to learn, i would suggest maybe buying a book on screen printing, it will defintly help you out in the long run! There are so many varibles to silk screening, and everybody does it differ from each other, so reading some material on screening then finding the best ways that work for you.

I use cap flim for my emulsion. I can clean, apply film, dry, burn, washout & setup screens in less than an hour. Cap film lets you apply emulsion to a wet screen and drys fast. Its also consistant on its thickness so no need to worry about pinholes, etc.
