i bought the vhs version way back in may and the dvd when it came out later that summer. now apparently girl is putting out a 3rd version of yeah right! they've altered it for mass consumption--it came as a promo at the virgin records store where i work.
plusses: some new edits, more outtakes and extras
minuses: almost everyone changed their song. the dvd is overloaded with bowie now. the choco montage is modern love not fame, gino skates to blue jean, and mckinley skates to let's dance. i love bowie but the old songs were better. also changed are biebel, eldridge, p-rod, rogers, and carroll's music. it really hurts the dvd in my opinion.

this new one is a promo copy only. the for sale version won't come out until jan. 27. and it'll come in explicit and edited versions like a rap cd, apparently. if you want the old songs, you're out of luck, i guess.

But, say a shop right now has yeah right dvds in stock, then those are the good ones with the original soundtrack songs, right?

yes, i think you're right. also, here are some things to help you tell the difference. the original version with the good songs has the yeah right logo in green letters on the bottom of the dvd cover with the words 'limited edition'. the new version has the yeah right logo in white letters and it is in the center of the dvd cover. the new version is distributed by rhino transport, so there's a little rhino logo on the dvd spine--that's not on the original. hope that helps everyone.
