I know everyone is against this for some reason, but the way I look at it is for the little guys if it is cheaper and the shapes are illy, and wood is good, why not? Has anybody recieved anything from them? I have done some researching and it looks like minimums are about 350 to fill up a certain cargo space..etc I just wanted to see if anyone has ridden or heard about anything over there. Also if anyone know about prices etc..

Hey Pope, you know you have a good point but there are other factors you might want to consider. The wood used in boards from china comes from a different climate and is known to be more brittle than north american lumber, also the companies overseas ship by container which means boo koo amounts of decks per order most smaller lables can't afford that type of quantity. The decks aren't really that bad if they were american companies wouldn't use them as much as they are. But just because it's cheaper doesn't make it better. Honestly you get what you pay for. I personally would like to see a resurgance of small lables building thier own boards, and have some thoughts on how we could make that happen. Mike

Yea, That makes sense. I found one that used canadian maple wood. But, by the time it gets there and sits then made then shipped back there is a lot of climate changes which would effect the wood.On another note top on my list is Watson Laminates outta San Diego California. Thanks for the insight. About printing boards, I have had a hell of a time trying to get a proper silkscreen for the decks or plans that make any kind of sense. And besides that what exactly it looks like. It is just very vague to me.I contactd Westar Solutions but they never get back to me....Also detailed instructions on how to screen the decks and techniques etc.. If you have any info or pics or anything let me know. Thanks Man

Im still working out the details of printing myself so no info I can offer as of yet. I did however get an ebook from ebay that has all kinds of info on screen printing and building your own multicolor press it only cost 9.00 just type in screen printing in ebays search box and look for several auctions going for 9 bucks the pic with his auction is a rooster. Thanks, I used to have a silkcreen biz but never printed on decks. I was just curious. If you have any questions feel free to ask. I learned the hard way, trial and error!...

There are alot of things to consider about getting decks from China. Alot of people give reasons as to why the decks arent any good. They say that it is killing the industry.

However I do not believe this is true for two reasons. All the rumors about the decks being shitty are made up by US woodshops because they are losing biz to the factories in china, they just cant comete with pricing so they say the decks suck and they use shitty wood to scare people from going over there.

World and Dwindle moved their production over to china and have been using it for over a year, no one ever knew. Believe me, there are shitty factories in China that make the variflex decks and stuff, but US companies sych as Dwindle and Girl(i've heard) are building their own factories from the ground up shipping in wood from canada, and making decks exactly the same as US companies. US companies who still use US factories are teaming up together to bash companies using chinese factories because they cant compete in pricing.

People will say that chinese factories simply dont have the expirience of a US factory or something, but do you really think if they are using the same training, same materials, the same wood, evetything the same they couldnt make the same quality deck? Sure they could, it's just cheaper labor.

The best advice is to test the wood from different factories in China.

acrobat beleive it or not World Industries (Dwindle) has recently merged with Variflex. Also I stopped in a local shop and was checkin out some of their new decks they got in. They had an almost (Dwindle) deck that was printed upside down. I don't know if this graphic was meant to be printed that way but yeah it was upside down.

This is the shit I like to hear.Keep it comin'. It's cool to hear everyone's opinion. I feel that this topic has kind of been a grey area and has not been discused. Does anyone know of any Ill wood factory's or have any contact info. So far I am trying to get some stuff from Benpat and Challenge Skatboards...Anyone?

i have no clue why no one has brought this up so far, but the main argument lies not even under price or quality, but in dedication to the industry. By outsourcing to china, many things are happening, 10 year old kids are forced to work long days for like 50 cents an hour, the U.S. economy takes another step towards collapse, and you are spending your money to support either money hungry assholes, like the people at dwindle, or some woodshops that only set up to cash in on skateboarding when it was big. If skateboarding were to suddenly take a fall in popularity, you think these woodshops would still be there to back us up? no. they would go back to making furniture or whatever they make over there. The argument over china wood is pretty much the same as the skate shop vs mailorder argument but on a much, much larger scale with huge consequences. yeah and most everybody knows that world industries sells incredibly shitty skateboards, and they make all there money off of graphics that parents and little kids think are cool. thanks for listening to my rant. oh and by the way i dont believe girl skateboards is moving over to china
Later,
Chris
