I 100% prefer dips over stains.
Nothing beats a silver sparkle vision dip in my opinion. |

It’s subjective. Dips were more mid 80s stains more late 80s
Given an identical deck in a dip or a stain I reckon the dip would sell for more |

Decks were usually "dipped" because there was some type of imperfection in the wood. Wood filler was commonly used, then the deck was dipped. Nobody is going to know once it's dipped, though. |
