Yeah! Second Topic!! Can anybody tell me if this shit really does anything. It strikes me as being the kinda thing thats hyped on but does shit. Like when slalom was huge and everyone was saying to win you needed the aerodynamic fiberglass boards and Tony Alva waltzed in and won some big contest on a Logan Earth Ski. |

camber does help for speed if you are really into pumping. it really helps, you can feel it. but sometimes it just comes down to if who is the better skater and not who has the best, most expensive board

What is the difference between camber, rocker, and concave decks?
Camber is used to describe a deck that has a slight arch lengthwise along the deck in its resting state.? Numerous longer decks have this quality to counteract the rider's body weight during? riding.?? Rocker is just the opposite of camber and describes a board that bows toward the ground.? This gives the rider a lower center of gravity while riding.? Lastly, concave refers to a board with its? sides turned up at slight angles.? This aids in foot traction by not allowing your feet to slide off the board as easily.? Concave boards are generally used in situations where the rider will be making more aggressive? moves

Camber is what makes my Turner fun and bouncy on turns.
As for my favorite long board these days, it actually has rocker rather than camber.
48" Barfoot, really smooth and cruisy and the rocker feels like it sort of holds you into the turn. Very fun.
BTW,, cool new forum, long overdue.

Here's an example of a board with camber:

Oh, like mostly in slalom boards? I like longboards with flex, but I'm guessing that's a different animal, right?
The 'sproing' is lacking on the Bulldog longboard, which is something I've gotten into lately. The Bulldog has that very solid mellow 'W' shape and I guess it wasn't made to flex at all. |
