I've written off new music, but do I listen to this dude's rock "podcast" (ugh) sometimes and in between the 70's classics and obscure gems he plays some decent new music from time to time.
He played this the other day and it was actually OK:

I posted this earlier, but it's a Thin Lizzy offshoot that's pretty good:

Thanks for the tips - you clicked my brain and it got stuck, I literally have bought nothing new in god knows how long. Need to do something with Pandora or get closer to Spotify.
The biters have a rocking cheap trick goes hollywood style going on. Wonder if they have a stylist doing their hair. Sorry, calling Thin Lizzy on it...but that's good and why I just bought a les paul.
Good rockin tunes though. Good to hear melody coming back. |

I find it hard to break away from the 70s, 80s and 90s but for me Baroness, Pig Destroyer, Pall Bearer, and Converge are the best bands going right now. (Props also to the bands that are still going after many years: Neurosis, Napalm Death, Brutal Truth)

Can't think of anything new I'm listening to. Saw The Biters open for D Generation and they were pretty good, but haven't listened to em since then.
I'll stick to finding new old stuff for now
Garland Jeffreys is on.... |

Current bands I like a lot:
Orchid. a Sabbath-y type of band.
Night Birds and Sectarian Violence. Hardcore bands. NB is more surf punk/DK meets something or other. SV is just pissed and fast hardcore.
First Aid Kit. Two sisters from somewhere, playing nice folky indie pop or something. |

Orchid? the late 90s scream core band on Ebullition?
Torche kicks ass too:
