About the ramp:

Skatebarn West closed its door in December, 2011, and along with it the only indoor vert
ramp in the Northwest. The only options left for local vert skaters are traveling out of state, or giving up the sport altogether. We aren't ready to give up. There's a strong local DYI culture in the Northwest, and we believe that if we skaters put our heads together and collaborate, we can come up with a sustainable, long-term solution. The Seattle Vert Ramp group was formed to facilitate this collaboration and opened up discussion on the idea of building a covered vert ramp of competition spec (13-14 ft high, at least 40' wide, 2' vert) within 30 minutes drive of Seattle. Privately-owned, private access only. Here's the plan:

The ramp will be covered to protect it from the elements and allow skating all year round.
Only donors and volunteers will have access to the ramp. All other access by *Invite Only*
The goal is to have the ramp built and ready to skate by October 31, 2012.
The ramp will be 56' wide, 13.5' high with 11.5' transitions and 2' of vert

I'll be posting up a couple of auctions to raise funds for the final layer of birch. The sheets are $44.11 each, including tax.

The roof trusses are going up right now, but it just started hailing like a motherfucker over here.

Seattle has so much skating talent.
Please donate if you can, anything helps.
Here's some recent photoz.

Did I mention 56' wide, 13.5' high with 11.5' transitions and 2' of vert?

Yesterday we got the first roof truss up, heres a time lapse of it my homey took with his gopro. Crazy rigging. And these things weigh 700-800 lbs each. We worked until 7:30 well into the darkness. Super sketchy in the dark.

12.5 feet of space directly above the coping.

Meh, I forgot how to embed video so https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=...amp;v=1vlm4scZsF0

Today we got the second truss up for the roof on the Mega Ramp, lots of rigging but the actual lifting and setting of the truss went pretty smooth once we levered it and beat the shit out of it, it just slipped into her hole.

Tomorrow morning we're moving a shit ton of gravel for the path down to the ramp and beside it. Another team of people who get down with 'Jake Brown to flatbottom' heights will be putting in the connecting joists between the trusses.

It never stopped raining all fucking day and my arms are worked, Good shit.

If your a rider and your ever in the Seattle area, I'll do all I can to get you to be able to ride this epic ramp.

I'm so proud to be a part of this ramp.

History in the making, srsly.

The remaining part of the schedule has been updated.

Goal by Sunday, October 28: Finish getting first two trusses completely locked down, cross braced, etc. Do something about the mud situation (Hubbard suggests he'll gravel around the ramp)

Goal by Sunday, November 4: Finish erecting covering

Thursday, November 8: Fifth and final wood drop -- 95 sheets of birch. Also, acquire the coping.

Sunday, November 11: Complete screwing down final layer of birch diagonal. Set the coping in place.

November 22: Thanksgiving Skate Jam (?)
