I can see your point on that one. Its all kind of crazy I guess- like how Vision was so wack in the day but now people seem to think they are ok cause they got a Duane shoe out. I wanted to buy a pair to support him but I couldnt bring myself to wear something with that dumb Vision Street Wear logo so I guess I am a hypocrite to a certain degree. |

Gravy, the dark days weren't the 90s. The real dark days were the early 80s! And I am not necessarily an indy hater. To this day I've never had anything different on my main boards and thanks to Scott O, my son is sporting them on his board as well.

I have to disagree with you on that. I thought the early eighties were great. We had Thrasher, back when it was really cool, keeping the fire burning(thanks to the "trendy" Fausto) and the kind of skate I like was easy to find. The 90's ushered in small decks and, worst of all, tiny freaking wheels. I remember going to my local shop in 94 or so and struggling to find wheels over 50mm. The early 80's ruled- punk rock and, best of all, backyard ramps. Remember when if you had a backyard ramp it was fair game for anyone to come over and session it(my mom hated that). Now the underground skate scene is just a part of a larger skate scene but back then the underground was all we had. |
