Hi guys, I'm not sure if this is already a topic, but I couldn't find one and I apologise if it is!!

I've been having some trouble with some of my decks warping after hanging them. I use picture hooks and fishing line... Is there a problem with the way I'm doing it or does it not make any difference??

Also is there any effective way to de-warp the decks that have started to go?

I would appreciate all and any help.

Cheers

I have read up in the deck restoration about the warping issues, but it is mainly the hanging question I wanted to clarify.

Some walls are just bad for hanging. Too cold, too hot, too humid... its a crap shoot.

If you can find someone willing to sell the Real Twister, it will straighten them.

I believe that someone posted a link to an article, by Paul Schmitt, about deck storage and hanging. Dont quote me on this but i vaguely remember him saying that storing or hanging decks vertically on a wall is not the best for them and may cause warping. I think he said something about all the moisture in the wood getting pulled to tail and that causes warping, maybe? Im not positive on that though. I do remember him saying the best way to store them is on their edge, like you would store records. Something like that. Wish i knew where that article was.

Just a theory...avoid hanging them on exterior walls. I figure that interior walls of your home will have less moisture, and less temperature variation.
I hang my board on an interior wall and have had no trouble for over a year now!

Thanks for the help guys, maybe it's just my walls... I do think they were put up by blind orangutans given how out of square they are in places! But I've been wondering about this because it hasn't been too hot or too cold here, and my house has been a pretty constant mid temperature... I'll keep an eye on em, and hopefully wont have to resort to pulling out the heat gun!!

hate to do this since it was part of my awkward entry into SNB's but I still stand by the knowledge that came from all my art handling years...
