Do they make special platens or machines where you can heat transfer onto the deck? If so, where can you purchase something like that? Also do you know where I can purchase a silkscreen frame for skateboards? |

I would guess you could get a heat press made to fit a skateboard. A simpler way would be to print the ply with a flat heat press then laminate the board |

Livi - That wouldn't work. The transfer would be damaged.
There's a broad range of quality in transfers -the high quality stuff is awesome.
Now here's the thing, the inkjet will not print large areas of colour well -but it's good on detail. So, what the smarter manufacturers do is spray the base on the deck, print the detail with the inkjet (not a regular inkjet) on the transfer and then silkscreen the transfer (super quality as the transfer is flat). Then it's applied to the decks after it's dried.

The heating unit for applying the transfer is two semi-flexible wheels. The deck passes through them and the combination of the heat and pressure bonds the transfer to the deck. |

Big loot - the proper printer is plotter size. You still need your silk screen machine and the heat roller... not cheap. |
