This is the latest model I'm working on. These things take forever to build and I had done three in the past that got destroyed when my basement flooded last summer. Anyway, I'm building this one right now and hopefully it'll be done by the end of April for my son's birthday. I'll post some pics of the actual build soon. Kray, wish I had more time, I'd love you to airbrush it.

I'd airbrush it. But honestly seen these kits since I was a kid I've never seen what one looks like in real life.

I've a A6M styrene kit with ever possibly etched part imaginable for it but haven't had the time to even open the kit since I bought it last year.

I should draw a float plane.

Haven't built a balsa tissue plane since the '70's.
A real pain in the ass.

I just looked into the whole balsa plane thing and I find it's pretty neat.

Thanks for sharing.

I am curious to see it before you paint it.

This is about 4 nights of work on the fuselage and pontoon. Pontoon is done, fuselage needs another night of stringers.

Wing starts tonight.

This is where it's headed... someone else's build (no pontoons).

Kray, I could see you doing one of these with a sweet airbrush fade, maybe a zombie pinup too

Wow that looks cool and I hope yours comes out just as clean.

I think if you had some home waterslide inkjet material I could send you a 300 dpi image and you could make a custom decal.

Years ago I wanted to do some large planes and found a company called Airpower that makes F1-Corsairs, P51 Mustangs and a A6M Zero out of indestructible poly urethane. The idea was to paint them all up crazy. Just have yet to find a complete kit.

I as well think about painting little car models, and when at Target I pass the toy section but I see nothing that catches my eye or that I have time to mess with.

Go to Pegasus Hobbies in Montclair. You'll find something you like.

I've been there 8 times, and once as so excited to buy something I just walked out because really I got to take care of business first. I went and bought a bandsaw blade and a pair of pants instead at the mall down the street.

My dad built these things all the time in the 70's. He actually has blueprints he's trying to sell for about 4 different planes. If anyone Is interested, PM me and I will see what he's got.
