not to take anything from jdtrenis cause he's a stand up dude,but wouldn't it be possible if this deck HAD a clock and was stored near a window where the sun would be hitting it,that the white weilender go to 'gold" as a having sundamage?it looks to me that it could as i look at the back where the clock mechanisim was..so if it's been sitting in a windowfront for several years,couldn't this be a possibility?

As I appreciate & respect your opinion, I would like to address your sun damage theory Rob. Yes it is possible, but if it were sun damage wouldn't the back of the deck have stayed much lighter or even white (except around the edges of course) as it would have almost always been in shadow?

While we're in the realm of possibilities, is it possible that minimal heat from a faulty battery operated clock (which was non-operational when I got it) over a long period of time, years, could have caused the paint underneath the clock to fume & fade?

Probably just color leaching from contact with the (black plastic ?) clock mount ring.

And yeah, fix the hole. That's about as easy as repairs get.
