well, they still exist, but "Jims" in SanAntonio is awesome for the old school coffie and smoke smell.... shit service, by old ass smoker gals, mixed with greasy food and an abundance of smoke. it just makes ya feel like '81. really that place hasent changed in 20 years. i miss hanging out there and breathing in the toxins, and getting me some eggs and bacon. wood panel walls, carpet thats plastered with food goo, and some gals that 30 years ago and 100,000 cigaretts ago were hot. ahhh what a place. |

Original Sambo's still open. Damn. Very surprised and a little intrigued. |

Fucking Sambos...had forgotten about that one. The one here closed in the 70s.
Burger Chef...
Pizza Inn...
Shakeys...
Taco Villa...
least not around here, not sure if they were all National chains, might've been regional. |

Pup n' Taco (and no forgetting Taco Lida)
Copper Penny, definitely.
Tiny Naylor's (windmill restaurants, Arcadia's is now a Denny's)
Rod's
But my all time favorite of the newer, extinct, restaurants:
Gorky's... <sigh> Best Russian Imperial Ale and Stroganoff... |

Copper Penny in SF is now Lucky Penny.
Pretty much unchanged except the name alteration.... |
