i'd like to know what your exposure time is when you're done. i currently use an exposure unit/vacuum table from Lancer that is probably more than 13 years old. it uses 10 F20T12/BL lights and my exposure time is 3:15.
a friend of mine has a different exposure unit with the same lights but his burn time is only 30sec. |

I'll def let you know.
I'm sure you have but, have you replaced the bulbs recently?
Same emulsion?
It could be that the parts inside are just old and weak. Maybe the ballast doesn't crank as much power as his.
I'm no expert, just some ideas. |

Here is my exposure unit without the bulbs or glass. I still need to get the glass from somewhere.
$95 for electrical
$50 for wood(I bought a whole ply of some fancy birch)
$15 for hardware/screws
$?? for glass.
About $160 spent so far.
I'll post tomorrow with a little tutorial of the construction.

Sorry guys, my internet was out for like a week.
I got glass at a small hardware store for about $13, home depot doesn't cut custom glass.
I've exposed a few screens with some of that speed ball emulsion. So far 4 minutes is about the perfect time. I've had limited success with good halftone exposure but that's mostly due to my films not being super black and not getting solid contact with the screen.
Some sort of vacuum mod would be an excellent addition.
So far I am very happy with my results. They are consistent and predictable unlike my old halogen light.
I've been busy with other things but I promise I will make a detailed tutorial and list of materials. |
