Well,
I have found my deck. Actually, I'm debating between two.
The Sk8kings "Keith Butterfield"
OR
the Decomposed Witter Cheng "Lacerator" (Cut from a Welinder II).
I will be using Ace 11 trucks
I need a wheel suggestion please.
I would like something "as close" to the Powell Peralta Freestyle 1's as I can get. I was looking at the PP Freestyle II's. I'm just not sure though.
All of you experienced freestylers, that post here, I could really use your input. As, I am fairly cash strapped, and I don't have the resources to try different sets of wheels.
Look at the picture I am posting below, and please let me know if there is anything comparable to these...Thank you

Thank you Willy..
I saw those some time ago. I thought the same things (radius, hardness, etc).
57MM / 93A
I think those may be my choice, unless I hear other suggestions.
Thank you again for the quick response |

Well, Witter at Decomposed sells wheels as well, so you can save postage.

I'd go for a smaller wheel at 54/55 mm these days, but it's up to you. |

Yoyo,
Here's the thing. And correct me if I'm wrong please, because it has been about 20 years since I've done any freestyle.
The decomposed wheels look real good. The only thing I'm not sure about is the shape. The front & back look rounded to me, as the PP streetstyle / freestyle II's look flat on each side.
I loved my Freestyle 1's I had back in the day, because of the shape. It made popping up onto your rail a bit easier, because to me, it seemed as if the flatter wheel just helped lock it into place better (Flat rail / flat wheel, as opposed to flat rail / rounded wheel).
What do you think? You're the one that has never quit flatland freestyle. You obviously have some stellar advice to give..Right?
I will say I am leaning towards those Streetstyles on the OSS page. The freestyle / streetstyles are the same wheel, just different name (pretty much). They have the color I want in the streets (Last deciding factor should always be color )
Thanks again for the quick replies. I though this forum section would be rarely looked at. I know how much flatland freestyle is appreciated in skateboarding these days *Comedic sarcasm added*

Brian, as I said before: There's always a personal preference.
A more rounded wheel will actually make it easier to pop into a railstand or to do fliptricks, because it 'rolls' onto the edge.
Any wheel wears down on the sides, so after some time the contact area becomes even wider more square.
The diameter decreases as well as the width, so the whole wheel gets more square.
Right now the Witter wheel shape, and others, became the new standard, as the shape is functional and can even be marketed to the street folks in some cases. The axle nuts are covered and a more roundish shape appeals even more........
My own wheels have a radiused edge and a flat face, and I ship to the US as well, but unfortunately it's not cheap......
Here's a foto of the softer 90A wheels, but the same shape as the 98As
I used to ride the PP Freestyles I back in the day as well, then later on I was on OJ's Speed Wheels team. |

I have the Decompossed wheels on my Freestyle board they aren't as offset or as square as the powell wheels you show. they are quite comfortable on rail (something I have experienced today with snow covering all the streets and parks here locally) Not a bad choice for freestyle wheels |
