With you being in the heat of the south, stay away from spar..it blisters in the sun. if u cant afford sk8paint id prim it with a coat of like killz and then a coat or two of a porch paint...thats what ive got and its held up decent..

Yeah, Killz & then deck/porch paint is what I have been planning on. I painted a sub layer with just the porch paint to test and it seems to work pretty well. The ramp is under tree cover and does not get much direct sunlight - I have a good 10 mil tarp(not one of those shitty blue 5 mil ones) that covers the whole ramp (30' X 40' tarp) for when it rains. When it has rained unexpectedly and I couldnt get the tarp on I have found that the porch paint drys pretty quickly.

Is Skatepaint really that good? I figured it was probably some sort of paint that was just rebranded and priced higher as a specialty paint.

ive heard good things about..but i dont know if its worth the price..
dont relly on the tarp thing about 4 months from now u probally wont even pull it out anymore..the only good thing about the spar is if u get the water up in a good time its harder to soak in..
