paintings seem cool but I myself would never offer tattoo machines to non tattooers.. granted you can buy machines anywhere these days...being a tattooer I think you would feel the same way..
maybe Im misreading your post..

maybe I looked deeper into your post then you meant.. and I wasnt tryin to be harsh.. It amazes me though the amount of tattooers that will just sell there machines to anyone who has the cash..
Ive worked many conventions next to some of the top guys in the industry and watch them sell to anyone who walks up to the booth.... guys that clearly are not working in a tattoo shop...

That's cool, I didn't take it in a bad way. I applaud your stance on machine sales. What I meant is, this seems to be a lot of people on here seemingly that are tattooers. So the offer was more extended to experienced tattooers that are also obviously into skateboard decks and want to trade.
It's too bad that in any magazine these days, there's some asshole willing to sell a whole tattoo setup to a scratcher or kitchen magician to make a fast buck. Besides, when I say trading tattoo machines, I'm talkin good machines not some Spaulding & Rogers starter kit shit.

yeah its tough these days..ha ha We had a guy come in the shop last month selling the worst chinese garbage machines.. so after I set him straight he hangs out in the shop and sees how busy we are..so a month later he opens a shop a half a block from us(selling supplies to anyone out of his front counter)
funny thing is they have probably 3 guys there and about that many years in the industry. We have 6 artists and over 100 years experiance...

In the old days for sure.....One of the guys that taught me put more than one gun to the head of the competition. Things have changed quite a bit since the days of old, even in the 14 years that I have been tattooing.
When I moved back to CT. in 97 there might have been 20 tattoo shops in the state..now there are easily 150. We have had 7 open in the last 6 months that are within 15 minutes of us.

| about 6 yrs ago i worked in illinois at this shop lucky 7 and she had a friend ask her how business was and two month later opened up about 40 feet away ....thats fukin harsh. here in milwaukee on the eastside of town we have at least 4 shops within a block of each other . some people just dont get it...... |

yeah its a fucking crazy business nowadays.. luckily being in the same spot for 15 years and I myself being there for 9 years helps quite a bit.. I keep myself busy

Is that just the thing to do these days?
The shop that I go to apprenticed a guy for a bit, he went away to NY and came back to open a shop right down the damn street from the same shop that apprenticed him.
Pinellas County is weird though, I swear there's a shop in every third strip mall, even in the land of the Oldie. |
